Language Learners You Should Know About (+Why they’re the real deal)
Have you ever scrolled on TikTok and heard that familiar phrase: “I speak 7 languages fluently”? You click on their profile—half in awe, half spiraling into imposter syndrome—and suddenly you're wondering why your Duolingo streak feels like a joke.
We’ve all been there. While polyglot content can definitely be motivating, it can also feel… unrealistic. But not everyone out there is just flexing. Some creators are the real deal—sharing tips, tools, and transparent stories that actually help you learn.
In this post, I’m rounding up the language learners, teachers, and creators who are worth your follow—not just because they’re impressive, but because they offer real insight into how language learning actually works.
Easy Languages
Learning a language? Interested in foreign cultures? If you said “Yes!” to at least one of these questions, then Easy Languages is the project for you (here’s their YouTube channel)! Easy Languages is a non-profit project aiming to help people learn languages through authentic street interviews. Their videos show local language and culture in natural, everyday situations! They also add subtitles in both the local language and English so that regardless of your level, you will be able to hear, read, and “see” the language in its local habitat.
These videos are super useful for beginners and intermediate learners! I use it for listening exercises and to also learn authentic vocabulary and grammar rules in context.
They also have channels for multiple languages! (the links are here below):
English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, Dutch, Romanian, German, Polish, Arabic, Russian, Ukrainian, Afrikaans, Danish, Malay, Hindi, Mandarin, Turkish, Greek, Catalan
Lindie Botes:
If Pinterest had a language learning section, Lindie would be it. She’s a UX designer by day and polyglot by heart, and she’s known for her stunning language notebooks, peaceful desk setups, and beautifully curated study routines. But don’t let the vibes fool you—her approach is grounded, smart, and incredibly intentional. I really love that she offers practical advice for vocabulary building, building habits, and resources for multiple languages on her website!
She shares practical tips for studying multiple languages at once, organizing your goals, and staying motivated long-term. Her YouTube content are full of deep dives on motivation, burnout, and learning styles, all wrapped in a calm, kind delivery. She’s not here to make you feel bad about your pace—she’s here to help you make it sustainable.
Iclal
Iclal is a polyglot who has reached C1 level in six languages, and her content reflects her experience with long-term, serious study. She’s known for her realistic routines, deep dives into how she organizes her language goals, and thoughtful reflections on burnout and motivation.
She shares actual study methods, journaling tips, language resets, and what resources she uses for each language. Her advice is especially helpful if you’re struggling to stay consistent or juggling multiple languages! She has a YouTube channel where she offers great advice for English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Russian!
Steve Kaufmann
Steve Kaufmann is one of the most well-known polyglots online and the co-founder of LingQ, a reading-based language learning platform. He’s studied over 20 languages and often emphasizes input-based learning—especially reading and listening as the foundation for acquiring vocabulary, grammar, and fluency. Steve also collabs with other language learners often!
Steve’s approach is based on comprehensible input and natural exposure rather than memorization or early speaking. His YouTube channel is full of videos on language learning philosophy, how to stay motivated long-term, and what to do when you feel stuck.
Language Lords
Language Lords (here’s his YouTube) is a no-fluff, highly practical language learner focused on speaking, shadowing, and building confidence early. His content is designed to help you start talking fast, even as a beginner, by breaking down what actually works when it comes to pronunciation, sentence structure, and real-time speaking.
I really love the fact that he walks you through actual exercises step by step! His speaking video really helped me get from a B level to C1 proficiency!
He’s especially good at explaining why learners stay stuck in passive input mode and how to fix that. He promotes active recall, shadowing native content, and doing daily speaking practice—even if you’re just talking to yourself.
